This Privacy Policy explains what information the mobile game Reign of Rivals (the “game”) collects, how it is used, who can see it, how long it is kept, and how you can delete it. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean the team that makes and runs Reign of Rivals. You can contact us at reignofrivals@gmail.com.
This policy covers the Android app and the game servers it connects to.
1. Summary
- The game has no ads, no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and no real-money purchases in this version.
- We do not ask for your real name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone, camera or location.
- When you tap Continue on the first screen, our server creates a guest account for you. It is identified by random IDs and a display name, not by an email or password.
- We store your game progress, your display name, and the chat messages you send. Chat messages are kept with no fixed end date, including after you delete your account (shown as “Deleted Player”).
- You can delete your account in the game (Settings › ACCOUNT / LEGAL › ACCOUNT DELETION) or by email. See Delete your account.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Account and sign-in information
- Account ID and player ID. Random identifiers our server creates for your guest account.
- Display name. New players get a generated name such as
Guest-1a2b3c4d5e. You can change it in your Profile. We keep a record of each name change (old name, new name, time) to process renames and to remove all your names if you delete your account. - Player flag. The emblem you design from the game's built-in patterns, colours and symbols.
- Terms acceptance. The version of our Terms of Service you accepted and when. We need this before you can use chat and other social features.
- Sign-in sessions. A hashed (scrambled) copy of your sign-in token, the platform name your device reports (for example “Android”), and timestamps. This is not a device identifier.
- Restore codes. If you lose access to your device, our support team can issue a one-time restore code. We store only a hashed copy. It expires after 15 minutes and can be used once.
2.2 Game data
Everything that makes up your kingdom and its history, for example: your cities, troops, Gold, Crowns, Gear, Runes, chests and other items; your Level, stats, quests and rewards; Marches, battles and Scout reports; Season, League and ranking results; Alliance membership and role; friends and friend requests; your mute and block lists; and when you were last active.
2.3 Messages and other things you write
- Chat. Messages you send in Global chat (visible to players in your World), Alliance chat (visible to your Alliance's members), and private messages (only between two players who are friends). Messages are plain text. Some offensive words are automatically replaced with asterisks when you post; the masked version is what we store.
- Alliance text. Alliance names, tags and announcements you write as a leader or officer.
- Reports about other players. If you report a message, a player's profile or an Alliance's public text, we store the reason you chose, any note you add, a snapshot of the reported message and the players' names at that moment, up to five nearby messages from the same chat (only a chat you could already read), your World and Season, and the game version and platform name, so a moderator can review it. The reported player is never told who reported them.
- Bug and cheating reports. If you send a report from Settings › SUPPORT, we store your description, the category you chose, any player name you mention, the game version, platform name, device model and operating-system version shown on the form, and which screen you sent it from. Please don't include passwords, restore codes or payment details; the server removes text that looks like a sign-in token.
- Chat settings. Your chat language, whether Auto-Translate is on, and your profanity-filter setting.
2.4 Technical and diagnostic information
- Gameplay analytics (our own, no third-party SDK). When the game talks to our server, we record your player ID, which game action was requested (for example “send a March”), whether it succeeded, an error code if it failed, the time, and your game version. The game also tells our server when it is opened, resumed, and every five minutes while it is open, so we can count active players and sessions. These records do not contain the content of your requests, chat text, passwords, restore codes, IP addresses or device identifiers. They are deleted after 90 days.
- IP address. Like any internet service, our server sees your device's IP address when it connects. The game server uses it in memory to limit repeated sign-in attempts and does not save it in the game database. Our server's system and web-server logs may record IP addresses, times and requested addresses for security and troubleshooting; these logs are kept for a limited time and are overwritten as they rotate. We do not use your IP address to work out your location.
- Game engine diagnostics. The game is built with the Unity engine (Unity Technologies). Unity may collect technical diagnostics from the game, such as crash and performance information, device model, operating-system version and an app-install identifier, so that engine problems can be found and fixed. Unity handles this data under its own privacy policy.
2.5 Information stored on your device
The game stores your sign-in credential in your device's protected storage (Android Keystore), and keeps game settings such as sound volume, chat settings and any restore code you typed. Logging out removes the sign-in credential. Deleting your account in the game removes the sign-in credential and any saved codes. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the game removes all of it. Uninstalling the game or clearing its data removes your sign-in; without a restore code from support you won't be able to get back into the same kingdom.
2.6 Information we do not collect
We do not collect your precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, videos, audio, files, calendar, browsing history, health or financial information, or advertising ID. The game currently does not send push notifications and does not collect push tokens. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to answer you.
3. How we use information
- To run the game: create and sign in to your account, keep your kingdom and the shared World up to date, resolve battles, show rankings, deliver chat and Inbox messages, translate chat when you ask, and restore your account if you lose your device.
- To keep the game fair and safe: limit repeated sign-in attempts, review reports, mask or remove abusive messages, change offensive names, and suspend accounts that break the rules.
- To support you: answer questions and handle deletion and recovery requests.
- To improve the game: understand, in aggregate, which features are used, where new players stop, and which errors happen.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or to build advertising profiles.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom: we provide the game to you under our Terms of Service (performance of a contract); we keep the game secure, moderate it and measure how it is used because we have a legitimate interest in running a safe, working game; and where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
4. Who can see your information
Other players can see your public game identity: your display name, flag, Level, Glory (rounded), League, Alliance and role, number of cities, rankings, combat statistics and past Season results, your cities on the World map, and the chat messages you send to them or to a channel they can read. Alliance members can see roughly when you were last active (for example “Online” or “3 hours ago”). Other players cannot see your troop counts, Gold, Crowns, Gear, Runes, chests or other items, your private Marches or your private starter cities, unless the game rules reveal a specific detail (for example, a Scout report on one of your cities, or a battle report sent to both sides).
Muting and blocking only affect communication. Muting hides a player's Global and Alliance chat messages from you; blocking also stops private messages between you in both directions, without telling the other player. Neither changes battles, scouting, rankings, what either of you can see on the map, or Alliance membership.
Moderators on our team can read reports, the reported messages and the nearby chat lines attached to them.
Service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Hosting: our game server and database run on a cloud server we rent from a hosting provider.
- Chat translation (Google Cloud Translation, by Google): players can translate chat into one of 12 languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (Simplified)). When a player taps TRANSLATE on a message, or has AUTO-TRANSLATE turned on, our server sends only the message text and the language to translate into to Google Cloud Translation. We don't send Google your player ID, your name, your IP address or any other account data, and the game app itself never contacts Google. Removed messages, Alliance system notices and messages from players you muted or blocked are never sent. Our server keeps each translation for up to 90 days so the same message isn't translated twice, and deletes it sooner if the message is removed or its author deletes their account. Google processes the text as our service provider under its Google Cloud terms. If translation is unavailable, chat keeps working and you see the original text.
- Game engine: Unity Technologies, for the engine diagnostics described in section 2.4.
Legal reasons: we may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect players, the game or others.
Transfer of the game: if the game moves to a new operator, your information may move with it, and this policy continues to apply until it is changed.
5. How long we keep information
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Account, profile and game data | While your account exists. After you delete your account, your name is removed and these records are kept without it, with no fixed end date; they can no longer be used or restored (section 6). |
| Chat messages and private messages | No fixed end date. They are kept as part of the shared chat history, including after you delete your account (your name is replaced with “Deleted Player”). Messages removed by a moderator are hidden from players but kept in our records. |
| Battle and Scout reports, Season and League results | No fixed end date (game history). Your name is replaced with “Deleted Player” if you delete your account. |
| Cities, Marches and map items of a finished Season's World | Deleted about 30 days after that Season ends. |
| A deleted account's starter area | Freed for new players when the account is deleted, if nothing else in the World depends on it (section 6). Otherwise as above. |
| Gameplay analytics | 90 days. |
| Expired sign-in sessions | About 30 days after they expire. |
| Reports about abuse, bugs and cheating, and moderation records | No fixed end date at present. |
| Translated copies of chat messages | Up to 90 days. Deleted sooner if the message is removed or its author deletes their account. |
| Chat settings (chat language, Auto-Translate, profanity filter) | While your account exists. Deleted with your account. |
| Server backups | Until the backup is deleted. There is no fixed schedule yet. |
| Server logs | A limited time, until the logs rotate and are overwritten. |
6. Deleting your account
In the game: open Settings (the cog button at the top right) › ACCOUNT / LEGAL › ACCOUNT DELETION › CONFIRM DELETE ACCOUNT.
Without the app: follow the steps on our Delete your account page, or email reignofrivals@gmail.com. Player names are public in the game, so a name alone doesn't prove ownership. To protect players, we delete by email only accounts that haven't been signed in on any device for at least 14 days; if the account was used more recently, we reply with the in-game steps instead. We never send a restore code in reply to a deletion request. We aim to complete requests that pass this check within 30 days.
When an account is deleted:
- It can never sign in again. All sessions end and unused restore codes stop working.
- Your display name becomes “Deleted Player” everywhere it appears, including chat history, Alliance notices, reports, rankings history, Season results and city names that were based on your name. Your former names become available to other players.
- Your Alliance place is released, stored device labels are deleted, and your analytics activity records are deleted or unlinked from your player ID.
- Your own mute and block lists and your chat settings (chat language, Auto-Translate, profanity filter) are deleted, translations of your messages are deleted, and the device model and operating-system version are removed from any bug or cheating reports you sent.
- Your starter area is freed for new players if nothing else in the World depends on it: the only land you hold is your Main City and your five starter cities, and no other player's March or safety report involves it. Your own Marches to or from that area are removed with it. Land you gave up earlier with Fresh Start has already become public neutral land and stays that way.
Some information is kept after deletion. It no longer carries your name and is no longer linked to any way of signing in, so it can't be used or restored by you or anyone else:
- Game records, with no fixed end date: your account and player ID (random identifiers), Gear, Runes, chests, Crowns and other items, quest progress, Inbox mail, League profile, friend list, your Terms acceptance record, and promo codes you redeemed. Other players' mute and block lists that include you are their own settings and stay.
- Shared World records: if your starter area can't be freed (for example, because you captured other cities, or another player's March or safety report involves it), your cities stay on the map without your name until that Season's World is cleaned up (about 30 days after the Season ends); battle and Scout reports and Season results remain for the other players involved, with no fixed end date.
- Messages: the text of chat and private messages you sent stays (shown as “Deleted Player”), with no fixed end date. Translations of your messages are deleted.
- Safety records: reports about abuse, bugs and cheating (including the reported message and its nearby messages) are kept with no fixed end date at present.
- Backups and logs: copies may remain in server backups until those backups are deleted, and in server logs until they rotate.
7. Security
The game connects to our servers over encrypted HTTPS. Sign-in tokens and restore codes are stored on our server only in hashed form, and our administrative tools require a secret key. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Your choices and rights
- Change your display name in your Profile. Choose your chat language and turn Auto-Translate and the profanity filter on or off in Settings. Mute or block players, and report abusive messages or names.
- Delete your account at any time (section 6).
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict some uses, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. To make a request, email reignofrivals@gmail.com with your exact player name. We may ask for details that help us confirm the account is yours.
9. Children
Reign of Rivals is intended for users age 14 and older and is not directed at children. You must be at least 14 to play (see our Terms of Service). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14. If you believe a child under 14 has created an account, email reignofrivals@gmail.com and we will delete it.
10. International users
Our game server is hosted in a data centre that may be outside your country, and Google Cloud Translation (when used) may process text in other countries. By using the game, your information may be processed outside your country, with the protections described in this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game changes (for example, if we add purchases, push notifications or new sign-in methods). We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for important changes, tell players in the game.
